Like all of our wines, our Talbott Chardonnay Sleepy Hollow Vineyard is made exclusively from estate-grown grapes. Produced from almost entirely Old Wente clone chardonnay grapes planted in 1972 from our prized South Block. It also includes a samll amount of grapes from our 20 year old Dijon clone vines. On the palate, it is lush and elegant, with a creamy mouthfeel and flavors of white peach and pear. The vineyard is situated on 585 prime acres of benchland in the Santa Lucia Highlands, 13 miles south of Monterey CA. This wine has come to define Talbott style with power, richness, integrated oak and bright cool-climate acidity. Enjoy!

This was a very structured white, with strong wood character done well. Strong caramel, acid, vanilla and honey notes, low aromatics, and light soda soil character as well. This, and other Talbott wines, I have trouble picking out the specific fruit components in their notes, partly because all of the great attributes I get are in structure, texture, and balance.
